H A Distributors presents a Cinco de Mayo celebration of Tahoe Comedy North on Tuesday, May 5th at the Crystal Bay Club Crown Room. Doors open at 7:00 and show starts at 8:00. This show features an all Latin cast of comedians to celebrate the holiday. Headlining will be, Dennis Gaxiola, with co-features Chris Storin and Mari Esther-Kaplan. Al Gonzales will be your host. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 the day of the show and are available at the Crystal Bay Club, Incline Cleaners, Grog & Grist, Noah’s Video, C B’s Pizza, and New Moon Natural Foods in Tahoe City and Truckee. Headliner – Dennis Gaxiola
Dennis Gaxiola is one of the hottest comics in the country, with appearances on Comedy Central with Jamie Foxx and appearing nationwide on the Latin Kings of Comedy tour. A finalist of the 2007 SF international Comedy Competition, Dennis' comedy is for all audiences.
Co-Feature – Chris Storin
Born in Oakland California and raised in San Leandro, this Bay Area native will crack you UP!!! Chris Storin's unique life growing up "HALF-BREED" with a Dad who is a farmer from Oklahoma and a feisty Latina Mom from New Mexico provides a hilarious and original outlook. His energetic style and nose has captivated audiences throughout the Country. Storin has shared the stage with the likes of Anjelah Johnson, Doug Benson, Eddie Griffin, and many more!
Co-Feature – Mari Esther-Kaplan
Mari-Esther Kaplan beat out 140 comics to be the first female winner in the history of the Rooster T. Feather’s Comedy Competition in Sunnyvale, CA! She was also a finalist in the national Las Vegas Laugh Across America Comedy Competition. Her likeable nature and Habanero-hot, Mexican-American perspective make her a relevant and exciting comic. Mari takes the audience with her on a surprising and zany ride through her many experiences as a mother, a wife, and as a misunderstood member of her Jewish husband’s family. She adds wonderful dimension to her act by seamlessly zipping between character work and good old fashioned comic story telling. Mari is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC and has trained with William Esper and with Obie Award winning Stephen Rosenfield at the American Comedy Institute in NYC. Her TV credits include, Law & Order and a national commercial for Seagate.
Host – Al Gonzales
Based in S.F., Al Gonzales has been involved in the Bay Area comedy scene for 7 years.
Originally Al started out as an Improvisational performer with the S.F. troupe, BIG CITY IMPROV (Voted "Best of The Bay" in 2002). Following a 2 year run with BCI, Al decided to go solo and pursue Stand-up comedy. Currently Al is a working comic all over the Bay. He performs regularly at The Improv, Rooster T. Feathers, Club Deluxe and The Punch Line (S.F./SAC.).
Big Al has opened for such acts as Doug Stanhope, Eddie Griffin, Sinbad, Tom Rhodes, Chris Spencer, Ngaio Bealum, Barry Sobel, Felipe Esparza, Edwin San Juan, Cain Lopez,
Alex Reymundo, Henry Cho, Anjelah Johnson, Charlie Murphy, Joey Medina, Darren Carter, Jimmy Dore, Craig Gass, Rich Vos and Russell Peters.
Big Al was seen nationally on T.V. for the "Click-it or Ticket" campaign and has done local spots for KRON in S.F. Also, you can listen to Big Al Gonzales weekly on 87.9 FM, Fridays 8am - Noon, interviewing the best comics in the nation.
