Tom Rhodes – Headliner
Tahoe Comedy North is honored to present Tom Rhodes in his first appearance at the Crystal Bay Casino. In a raucous stand up career spanning 25 years and 7 continents, Tom Rhodes has been on HBO, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and filmed two half hour specials for Comedy Central “Comedy Central presents…Tom Rhodes”. Tom was also the host of his own late night talk show in Amsterdam for Dutch television. Tom is one of those rare exotic creatures who has dedicated his life to stand-up comedy. Starting out at the tender age of 17, in Orlando, Florida he was soon touring the Southern United States and up the eastern seaboard to New York City. But it wasn’t until Tom moved to San Francisco, that he discovered his comedic “voice”. There in the city he describes as “The Jerusalem of Stand-Up Comedy” he was discovered by Comedy Central. Tom was given the channel’s first ever development deal contract which led to his critically acclaimed hour special “Viva Vietnam!: A White Trash Adventure Tour”.
The following year at the Montreal Comedy Festival he was “discovered” again, this time by NBC who gave him his own sitcom on the network called “Mr. Rhodes” where Tom played a rebel teacher in a stuffy prep school trying to inspire revolution in his students. The sitcom was short lived but Tom took his “NBC artist’s grant money” and moved to New York City to rededicate his life to the art of Stand-up comedy. As Tom’s horizons broadened he found himself regularly performing in London, which led to many other engagements in the Comedy clubs scattered across Europe. While performing in Amsterdam he was seen by the Dutch television network, Yorin, who gave him his own late night talk show entitled “The Kevin Masters Show: starring Tom Rhodes”. The much loved show ran for 2 years with Tom interviewing Holland’s biggest celebrities and experiencing every aspect of the unique Dutch culture.
At the end of the show’s run the same network gave Tom a travel show named “Yorin Travel” where he got to film highlights on Peru, Russia, France and the Dutch Caribbean. Tom’s lovable personality and warm charm have won him fans all across the globe. He continues to perform regularly in Asia, Australia, Europe, and all across the United States. Pretty much anywhere there is a comedy microphone plugged in.
Having come a long way from his small hometown of Oviedo, Florida, to a seasoned world class performer and traveler, Tom Rhodes is truly an International Man of Comedy.
Collin Moulton – Feature
Less than two years after getting started, Collin won his first comedy competition (the 2001 Rocky Mountain Laff-Off), and later that year found himself featured on Comedy Central’s “Best of the Improv.” 2003 proved to be another successful year for the up-and-comer, as he was a “Best in Fest” feature at the renowned Montreal Comedy Festival.
Flash back eight years ago to LA’s Laugh Factory – aspiring stand-up comic Collin Moulton waits in line 10 hours for the chance to take the stage for three minutes on his first open mic night. Now fast-forward to June 24, 2007. Collin’s still waiting around a comedy venue, but this time he’ll get considerably more than three minutes of stage time, and best of all, he’s opening for the infamous Lewis Black after winning the 4th Annual Northwest Comedy Competition.
When not working the country’s glitziest rooms on the coasts, Collin leaves no comedy club stone unturned in the nation’s heartland. One week you might find him working a stretch of one-nighters across Texas and Oklahoma; the next week he could be on a four-night stand in Ohio. This week, he’s right here in Lake Tahoe!
Eric Hunter – Host
Eric has been performing comedy since the age of 6, when he got his very first laugh at a family picnic. His grandmother scolded him for not eating all of hisdinner. “You know there are starving children in third world countries who would love to eat that,” she said. “Well, here, send it to them,” came his reply and upon hearing his cousins’ laughter, he knew comedy was the life for him! Eric now performs non-stop around the country leaving his mark as a clean, funny, bright, friendly and original performer. He jokes sarcastically about various topics, including his friends and Irish Catholic family, education, sports and relationships. He’s best known for his hilarious, deadpan attempt to impress the women in the audience. In cities like New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Prestonburg, KY (and every-where in between), Eric has performed with a wide range of comedians, including Louie Anderson at the Comedy Store in L.A., Brian Regan, Ray Romano, Tom Papa, Jake Johannsen, Blake Clark, Kevin Nealon, Bobcat Goldthwaite, Kevin Pollak, Frank Caliendo, Nick DiPaolo, Wendy Liebman, John Witherspoon, Todd Glass, Pam Stone, John Pinette, Dave Coulier, The Amazing Johnathan, Adam Ferarra, Pablo Francisco, Robert Wuhl, Jim Brogan, Bob Zany, Etta May, Tim Wilson, Heath Hyche, Jimmy Walker, John Roy, Michael Winslow, Michael Roof and Dennis Regan.
