Tony D’Andrea – Headliner
Tony D’Andrea has a story to tell. In fact, he has a million of ‘em, as most comics do, but with a difference – his true-to-life tidbits are populated with people you might actually recognize. Does the name Jerry Seinfeld ring a bell? Rodney Dangerfield? Paul Resier? Chris Rock? Eddie Murphy? Some of them are old friends of D’Andrea’s; he was there, tending bar at New York’s now legendary Comic Strip 22 years ago. D’Andrea saw and studied the greats while developing his own impression filled act.
Tony is the kind of comic who can steal the thunder from scantily clad showgirls. After countless such Vegas shows have finished, audiences have forgotten the T&A but could be heard talking about that “crazy comic who turned into Jack Nicholson” right before their eyes. It's a gift to be the only “boob” in the show they remember. As Rodney Dangerfield would have to admit, that's getting some major “respeck.”
D'Andrea has been earning that respect through an act honed over years of treading the boards of casino showrooms. It's an act that blends his countless impressions-from chestnuts like John Wayne and Peter Falk to newer celebrities like Brad Pitt and, of course Nicholson-with quick-witted one-liners. After spending years in comedy clubs and helping several young comics with their careers, the guy knows what he's doing.
Out of all of the names D'Andrea has worked with, he misses Rodney Dangerfield the most. “I was his friend for 25 years,” states D'Andrea. “A good Rodney story is the time we were cruising around the Vegas Strip. We were checking out the marquees because he wanted to see if he had billing. ‘How big am I?' he asked me. I said, ‘You're on top of the world. You just finished Back to School and you're packing them in at the Las Vegas Hilton like Bill Cosby did. There's no one as big as you.' Then he asks, ‘So what am I doing with you?' “He was a special friend. I miss him every day.”
So what's a Tony D'Andrea act like?
It's a whirlwind tour of thoughts and impressions with stops at platforms even D'Andrea doesn't realize are on the itinerary. He's from the old school where material comes from creativity and talent, not requiring shock value to sustain it. And while, the jokes, skits and gags can come at you from all angles, they can also be delivered subtly. Borrowing from masters like Jack Benny, D'Andrea can, when he feels it's needed, make people laugh without saying a word.
Nancy Lee – Feature
A native of the Bay Area, Nancy's gone back and forth between Los Angeles and San Francisco depending on how much weight she's lost and whether she'll fit into her skinny jeans without being mocked in LA! Growing up in a traditional, strict Korean home, she's developed a sense of humor to rescue herself from going insane from her identity crisis! She makes jokes about being single; struggling with weight and all of the ridiculous ways she's had to deal with men.
Erik Clark – Host
Some people deal with life by paying someone else for counseling, comedian Erik Clark tells jokes for his own personal therapy. Born in Oakland, CA and educated at the University of California at Davis, Erik initially worked as a buyer for a fortune 500 company. Erik decided to embark on a new career and hone his skills as a comedian in the Northern California comedy scene. He draws his comedic material from family, the Baptist church, current events and relationships. Erik has shared the stage with A-list comedians such as Dave Chappelle, Tracy Morgan, DL Hughley and Tommy Davidson. Erik is the winner of the 2004 Sacramento Black Comedy Competition, has entertained our troops overseas, and is currently filming a documentary on the Northern California Comedy Scene. This funny man can be seen in film projects, "The Hustle" starring John Witherspoon and “The Difference.”
Mike the Dry Cleaner – Guest Spot
Making his second appearance at the Crystal Bay Casino Crown Room is Mike Trute. He has been working in the public service industry as a drycleaner for many years. He easily finds humor in his crazy, day-to-day experiences and playfully shares his thoughts with the audience. Get ready as Mike unleashes his dirty laundry!
